Adopt Resolution 11-55 establishing precincts for the Cochise County Community College and defining their boundaries, effective March 1, 2012.

Background:

WHEREAS, pursuant to A.R.S. § 16-411 the Board of Supervisors has established election precincts and defined their boundaries; and

WHEREAS, A.R.S. § 15-1441(A) requires the Board of Supervisors to establish precincts for the Cochise County Community College District and to define their boundaries; and, further, the boundaries of the Community College Precincts must conform to any changes in precinct boundaries made pursuant to A.R.S. § 16-411; and

WHEREAS, at a hearing on November 21, 2011, the Board of Supervisors considered alternate scenarios for precinct boundaries; the purpose of this Resolution is to document the scenario adopted by the Board of Supervisors at that hearing,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:

1. The Cochise County Board of Supervisors hereby approves and declares the map attached in Exhibit “A” to be the Official Cochise County Community College District Map for Cochise County.

2. That the Community College District Precincts shall be those set forth in Exhibit “B” and incorporated by reference herein; and this designation shall be effective March 1, 2012.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

File submission to the Department of Justice for review and approval.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

 Cochise County will not be in compliance with state redistricting requirements.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Notify Elections Director and the County Recorder of Board action; record Resolution and provide copy to Elections Department for inclusion in the DOJ submission.
