REQUESTED ACTION:
MOTION TO RECOMMEND BROWARD MPO APPROVE the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Four Draft Tentative Work Program for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 - 2026
WHAT THIS ACTION ACCOMPLISHES:
Approval of this action will enable FDOT to proceed with the programming and funding of the projects contained within the Work Program for state FY 2022 - 2026. Additionally, the projects in the Work Program will be used in the development of the MPO's next Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for FY 2022 - 2026.
SUMMARY EXPLANATION/BACKGROUND:
The MPO is required to develop and approve a TIP annually, which is a core product of the MPO and reflects the funding priorities of the MPO. This is a three-step process:
The FDOT Draft Tentative Work Program FY 2022- 2026 Citizen’s Report (Broward and District Wide) is published for review at http://browardmpo.org/index.php/core-products/transportation-improvement-program-tip. Broward MPO staff has reviewed the Draft Tentative Work Program (received on January 7, 2021) and provided a summary of major changes between the adopted (current) FY 2021- 2025 TIP and the Draft Tentative Work Program FY 2022-2026 which can be found in Attachment 1. In addition, Broward MPO staff compiled comments on the Draft tentative Work Program and sent them to FDOT for review. A summary of these comments/questions and the responses from FDOT can be found in Attachment 2.
Additionally, correspondence specific to the Southwest 10th Street project has been received by the Broward MPO and included in the correspondence section of the agenda.
FDOT District Four staff will present an overview of the Draft Tentative Work Program and will be available to answer questions at the meeting. A hybrid public hearing for the Work Program will take place at the District Four Headquarters Auditorium on January 26, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. Individuals can elect to attend at the physical location or participate via virtual webinar. For virtual webinar registration information, please visit https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/7513205255928028684. For in-person attendance, please contact Julie Lucas at (954) 777-4631 or Julie.Lucas@dot.state.fl.us to RSVP. The public hearing is in compliance with all current COVID-19 guidelines, and Social Distancing Guidelines and ordinances will be followed.
- Step 1 - MPO Board takes action on its Multimodal Priorities List (MMPL) - typically June of each year.
- Step 2 - MPO Board takes action on FDOT's Draft Tentative Work Program - today's action.
- Step 3 - MPO Board takes action on its TIP - typically July of each year.

MPO staff recommends approval of FDOT's Draft Tentative Work Program. Questions and comments will be addressed at the meeting.
