TITLE:
Consideration of Appointments: Tourism Commission.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Make one appointment to a Hospitality seat on the Tourism Commission with a term expiring January 2014.
Policy Decision or Reason for Action:
By making the above appointment, the Tourism Commission will be at full membership. Members of the Tourism Commission provide citizen participation and recommend programs for the expenditure of the tourism portion of the Bed, Board, and Booze Tax as designated by Ordinance Number 1532.

1) Appoint Commissioner (recommended): By appointing a Commissioner at this time, the Tourism Commission will be at full membership, allowing the group to continue monthly meetings and provide recommendations to City Council.

Background/History:
The Tourism Commission consists of nine citizens serving three-year terms. Five of these positions represent the hospitality industry and four are at-large seats. There is currently one hospitality seat vacant with a term expiring in January 2014.
Key Considerations:
It is important to fill this vacancy since the Tourism Commission meets each month to consider and recommend programs to City Council regarding the tourism industry.

The City's boards, commissions, and committees were created to foster public participation and input and to encourage Flagstaff citizens to take an active role in city government.
