TITLE:

NSG - Materials Updates + Outreach Planning
Commissioner Elijah Borne and Staff Liaison Tia Hatton Tenny

STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Review, Discussion, and Vote

Executive Summary:

The grant working group, consisting of Vice Chair Metzger, Commissioner Lammie, and Commissioner Born, met three times. Staff and the city's Equity Climate Advisory Group provided feedback to this working group, which has developed several proposed changes to the Neighborhood Sustainability Grant.

Key proposed changes include renaming the grant, combining categories to reduce the total from seven to five categories: Energy, Food, Waste, Transportation, and Community Health & Resilience. The mission statement will now emphasize promoting climate action. The scoring rubric is being updated to reflect key priorities and ensure a smoother reviewing process, and there are some slight clarifying revisions to application questions, guidelines, and requirements. The working group also would like to recommend not revisiting the grant each year via a working group, and measuring change over the next three years instead.

To view the full list of updates, please see the agenda attachment. We will also discuss outreach options and start assigning roles.
