TITLE:
Flagstaff Festival of Science 2022
STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Gauge interest in the Commission participating in the Flagstaff Festival of Science and ideas for workshops or events that the Commission could host.
Executive Summary:
The 2022 Flagstaff Festival of Science will celebrate “Pyramids to The Peaks” on September 23- October 2, 2022 in Flagstaff, Arizona. The overarching theme is preservation science. This is a unique opportunity for the Heritage Preservation Commission to contribute to the event. The deadline for proposals is June 1. More information at: https://scifest.org/2022-festival/
Financial Impact:
The Commission will have access to existing City supplies and about $500 of funding could be used to print materials from the Advanced Planning budget. The main resource available would be staff time. This could also co-advertise the Regional Plan if the Commission desires.
Policy Impact:
This event would fall under the Commission power in the Enacting Authorities as follows: "The Commission shall increase public awareness of the value of historic, cultural, and architectural preservation by developing and participating in public education programs."
