Phoenix's Historic Preservation Code, presented by Michelle Dodds, Historic Preservation Officer City of Phoenix, AZ
STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Look for insights about how the Flagstaff Cultural Resources section of the Zoning Code could be improved.
Executive Summary:
Michelle Dodds leads the largest Historic Preservation program in the State of Arizona. She will present to the Commission on the ways Phoenix's Zoning Code and Historic Preservation provisions are used to preserve the community's landmarks and review development applications.

Policy Impact:
The City of Flagstaff's Heritage Preservation Commission is in the process of reviewing the Cultural Resources section of the Zoning Code (section 10-30.30). Presentations were provided by staff in the spring on what the current requirements are. This is the first of several presentations about what else has been implemented in Arizona that may guide future changes proposed to the code.

City Council gave direction for staff and the Heritage Preservation commission to begin this work in February 2021.
