Consideration and Approval of Letter of Support: to the FAA for the FY22 Airport Improvement Program for the construction of a Snow Removal Equipment Building.

STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Approve the Letter of Support

Executive Summary:

City staff has recently submitted a grant application to the FY22 Airport Improvement Program for the construction of a Snow Removal Equipment Building (SREB) at a cost of $22.6 million. This SREB is critical in meeting the Flagstaff Pulliam Airport’s need to provide safe and timely snow clearing to ensure an efficient environment for air travel. To support this grant application, staff have drafted a letter of support from the City Council. If the Council approves the letter, it will be sent to FAA Administrator Stephen Dickson. The City’s federal lobbyist Bob Holmes has also worked with our congressional representatives to send similar letters to the FAA in support of the City’s grant application
