SUBJECT:
Resolution 19-R22 Increasing Stormwater Management Utility Fee
SUMMARY:
The City of Fort Pierce established a Stormwater Management Utility in September 1998. A fee is levied each year to all property owners to fund a Stormwater Utility to ensure an acceptable level of maintenance, rehabilitation and replacement of those elements of the City's storm and surface water management system. The existing fee since 2005 has been set at $54.00 per equivalent residential unit (ERU). To maintain the existing system and to continue to provide enhanced water quality treatment and flood protection, it has become necessary to request an increase to the fee by $15.00. The proposed fee of $69.00 / ERU per year will provide an increase to the annual budget by approximately $775,000.
RECOMMENDATION:
Engineering recommends approval of the request to increase the SMU to $69.00/ERU.
ALTERNATIVES:
Remain status quo with the same rate or propose an alternate amount.
