SUBJECT:
Approve Timothy Rose Contracting, Inc. as the lowest responsive bidder for an amount not to exceed $387,593.73 for South 21st Street and Havana Avenue Sidewalk Improvements.
SUMMARY:
Of the two (2) respondents replying to the City's Request for Construction Bids, Timothy Rose Contracting, Inc. submitted the lowest bid. This bid has been reviewed and approved by FDOT in accordance with the conditions specified in the Local Agency Participation (LAP) Agreement. The proposed work includes the construction of 5' wide concrete sidewalks, driveway improvements, and stormwater upgrades along: Birch Street/21st Street from Nebraska Avenue to Havana Avenue; Havana Avenue from 21st Street to 13th Street; and Kaufman Avenue from Okeechobee Road to 23rd Street.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends award of the construction contract to Timothy Rose Contracting, Inc.
ALTERNATIVES:
Do not complete the improvements and relinquish the allocated $320,324.00 federal funding.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The project cost of $387,593.73 shall initially be encumbered from SMU Revenue Account No. 403-4300-538-3490 with reimbursement of $2,700.00 by FPUA and FDOT administered federal reimbursement in the amount of $320,324.00. The remaining project cost of $64,569.73 will be compensated by the City's SMU fund to cover the stormwater related expenses.
