SUBJECT:

Approval of Brothers' Construction, Inc. Specific Authorization No. 3 in the amount of $808,725.00 for the repair and reconstruction of the boat ramp and docks at Jaycee Park.

SUMMARY:

On November 10, 2022, Hurricane Nicole made landfall just north of Fort Pierce as a Category 1 hurricane. Substantial damage to the Jaycee Park fixed boat docks occurred as a result of the wave and wind action generated by the storm. The attached construction proposal will provide a resiliency plan that provides a product that can withstand the effects of a hurricane with 3-second wind gusts of 170 MPH. The construction of the three (3) floating boat docks and gangways will also allow use by the public during periods of high water events as the ramps will no longer be fixed and will be ale to adjust with the water level accordingly. Construction plans have been prepared and permits, ACOE and FDEP have been secured.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval.

Deny and leave the existing boat ramps unusable.
