Approval to piggyback Charlotte County Bid No. 2015000418 to lease ten (10) patrol vehicles; nine (9) Ford Interceptor Sport Utility Vehicles for Patrol Officers, and one (1) Ford Interceptor Sport Utility Vehicle for a Patrol Supervisor from Bartow Ford, Bartow, FL, in the amount not to exceed $81,565.91. 

The Police Department requests approval to lease ten (10) new patrol vehicles.  This purchase is necessary to replace current vehicles with excessive mileage, wear, and tear.  This purchase requests is for ten (10) Ford Interceptor Sport Utility Vehicles; nine (9) for Patrol Officers and one (1) for a Patrol Supervisor in the amount not to exceed $381,565.91.  These vehicles will be purchased from Bartow Ford (Bartow, FL) through Ford Credit Municipal Finance Leasing Program.  This is a five (5) year lease program.  The purchase price for these vehicles was obtained from Charlotte County, FL contract Bid No. 2015000418,  Charlotte County has authorized the Fort Pierce Police Department to "piggyback" their contract with Bartow Ford.  Pricing includes the vehicle, lighting and siren package, and all the other necessary police equipment and designs. 

Staff recommends approval of this request. 

The alternative is to deny this request and purchase these vehicles outright.
