Bid Opening for Hawthorne Municipal Airport Rehabilitate Taxiway N&S Lighting, Rehabilitate Runway 7/25 Lighting, Rehabilitate Airfield Vault, Replace Airfield Signs & Install Airport Beacon Project (Project # 22-09).
 

RECOMMENDED MOTION:

Staff recommends opening bids for Hawthorne Municipal Airport Rehabilitate Taxiway N&S Lighting, Rehabilitate Runway 7/25 Lighting, Rehabilitate Airfield Vault, Replace Airfield Signs & Install Airport Beacon Project (Project # 22-09) for staff review.

DISCUSSION:

Public Works went out to bid for the Hawthorne Municipal Airport Rehabilitate Taxiway N&S Lighting, Rehabilitate Runway 7/25 Lighting, Rehabilitate Airfield Vault, Replace Airfield Signs & Install Airport Beacon Project on April 14, 2026.

The work consists of replacement of all taxiway edge lighting fixtures and associated cables and transformers, replacement of the airfield lighting vault’s Constant Current Regulators (CCRs), and replacement of the airfield lighting control system’s ACLS hardware and software. Replacement of runway edge and threshold/end light fixtures, and associated cable and transformers. Replacement of all existing airfield signage and associated transformers, and replacement of airfield guidance sign foundations and surface painted taxiway location markings as needed to rename all taxiways to conform to the naming convention proposed in the current ALP. Replacement of the rotating beacon, including a new mounting pole and foundation and any necessary conduit per Plans and Specifications for Hawthorne Airport located at 12101 Crenshaw Blvd., Hawthorne, CA 90250.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN:

This project is a result of the City working closely with funding and regulatory agencies to support and improve our infrastructure.

FISCAL IMPACT:

 The project will be funded through FAA Grant and Airport fund.

72 Hours posted notice pursuant to the Ralph M. Brown Act.
