RESOLUTION NO. 8493 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HAWTHORNE, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF HAWTHORNE FOR THE ELECTIONS OF CERTAIN OFFICERS CONSOLIDATED WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2026, AND REQUESTING THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ISSUES INSTRUCTIONS TO THE REGISTRAR RECORDER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL STEPS NECESSARY FOR THE HOLDING OF THE CONSOLIDATED ELECTION.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve Resolution No. 8493.
DISCUSSION:
The City is required to give notice of the general municipal election to select two Council Members, City Treasurer and City Clerk, all for a term of four years each. The County registrar has previously informed us that there is no need for the City to request a consolidated election with the Statewide General Election because the County has the City of Hawthorne on a list of cities continuing such requests so that the County Board of Supervisors do not need to call for a vote for each election.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimates as provided by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder total $213,695.72 without a ballot measure and $240,635.26 with a ballot measure.
