CAPTION
BACKGROUND
Hidalgo County Health & Human Services is committed to enhancing mosquito control efforts and reducing the risk of mosquito-borne diseases through innovative and sustainable strategies. Synvect’s ngSIT platform is an egg-based sterile male mosquito technology designed to suppress mosquito populations by producing non-viable offspring, resulting in population reduction over time.
The proposed Non-Binding Letter of Intent (LOI) establishes a framework for collaboration to evaluate feasibility, scalability, and program effectiveness, including surveillance, monitoring, and quality control. Initial efforts will focus on Aedes aegypti, with potential expansion to other species such as Culex quinquefasciatus.
This LOI is non-binding and does not obligate the County to any financial commitment but allows for further evaluation and coordination in support of long-term vector control efforts.
