Urban County Program for Precinct No. 1 is requesting consideration and action to award and enter into a construction contract with Sascon Inc., lowest bidder meeting all specifications and/or requirements, for the Texas Department of Rural Affairs contract No. DRS010068 - Catarina Subdivision Street and Drainage Improvements Project in the amount of $472,395.20.  The project consists of street and drainage improvements within Catarina Subdivision which include the following locations:  Martinez, Ford, Dunn & Maritza St.

Bids were requested and received for Pct. No. 1 – Catarina Subdivision Street & Drainage Improvements project.  Sam Engineering & Surveying Inc. (SAMES) prepared the specification packages.  Bids were received and opened at the Hidalgo County – Purchasing Dept. on June 8, 2011.  After review, the project engineer recommended Sascon Inc. as the lowest of three (3) bidders.  Please see attached engineers recommendation letter and a copy of bid tabulations.
