Approval to submit for reimbursement of grant award (#DR-1780-002) from the State of Texas - Division of Emergency Management in the amount of $36,784.73 for Hazard Mitigation grant, with authority for County Judge to sign the required documentation.

The nature of this program is to comply with the Hidalgo County portion of the Cover the Border Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, adopted by Hidalgo County Commissioners Court on October 14, 2008. Refer to pages 18.15 and 18.16 of the Hidalgo County portion of the Cover the Border Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, "To promote the use of NOAA All-Hazards radios for early warning and post-event information", classified as a High Priority.



The GDEM approved project is to purchase NOAA All Hazards Radios and distribute them to facilities serving special populations via an emergency preparedness education program, to be administered by Hidalgo County Emergency Management, as a means to allow these facilities to take appropriate action to protect lives and property.



Hidalgo County Commissioners Court approved to apply and submit the HMGP application on January 27, 2009.
