The City of Penitas and Urban County Program are requesting authorization to cancel an existing contract with Flores Engineering in the amount of $139,900.00 for the 2002 Water/Sewer Improvements project which consisted of the construction of a wastewater treatment plant. The project was completed utilizing USDA Rural Development funds in the amount of $18 million.

BACKGROUND

Flores Engineering completed and was paid 75% of the professional service contract, which included the preliminary and design phases. The plans and specifications produced were incorporated into J.F. Fontaine & Associates, Inc.’s plans and specifications for the construction of the Penitas Wastewater Treatment plant completed in late 2011. A copy of the letter from Flores Engineering agreeing to a partial contract cancelation is included. The City of Penitas and Urban County Program are requesting authorization to cancel the remaining portion of the  existing contract with Flores Engineering executed in the amount of $139,900.00
