CAPTION
Constable Precinct No. 1:
Discussion, consideration, and approval to apply and submit the application of the Technology Transfer Program Grant to the Counter Drug Technology Assessment Center.
BACKGROUND
In 1998, the Technology Transfer Program was enacted by Congress for state, local and tribal law enforcement. This program provides technologies and training to law enforcement agencies to support investigative operations through a competitive application process. Technologies are transferred to recipient agencies and become the permanent property of those agencies. The technology comes at no cost to the agency, however the agency must evaluate the technologies usefulness during the grant period. (1 year)
This item was presented to Court on 4-24-07 (refer to CC Regular 17.D, AI 3474). As per Joel Rivera, the item was tabled because the Court requested more information and explanation pertaining to the grant.
According to Mr. Rivera, the Constable's office is requesting detection devices for law enforcement use, and no maintenance costs will be incurred for the County after the one year grant period expires. Mr. Rivera will provide more information to the Court during the meeting.
