The Urban County Program is requesting approval to repay HOME – Home Buyer Assistance Program grant funds to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $5,000
BACKGROUND
The Hidalgo County Urban County Program HOME Division was monitored by HUD in August 2005. During this review a Finding of non-compliance was discovered in regards to HUD # 4798 – Jose and Florinda Ocanas. As per HUD, the family’s income was over HUD Income Limits at the time of application, and therefore has been found ineligible as per HUD program regulations. HUD has noted this discrepancy as a Finding against the UCP and has required repayment in full of grant funds awarded to the Ocanas family from the County’s General Fund. Once the funds are received by HUD they will, in turn, redeposit the $5,000 amount into the UCP HOME funds line of credit for use by an eligible family.
