1. Urban County Program on behalf of the City of La Joya is requesting exemption from competitive bidding requirements under the Texas Local Government Code 262.024 (a) 'a professional services.
2. Requesting on behalf of the City of La Joya the scoring grid (from the grading of at least three (3) engineering firms) for the purposes of Commissioners Court ratifying the ranking with approval of the negotiated professional architectual services contract with the highest scored firm of Alcocer Garcia Associates for the design and construction of a proposed Recreation Center in the City of La Joya utilizing Urban County Program Park, Recreational Funds Years 17 (2004), 18 (2005), and 20 (2007).
BACKGROUND
The City of La Joya selected (3) architectural firms from the County s Approved Architectural Listing. City Staff rated the firms and City Commission negotiated with highest rated firm. The project consists of the design of a 100' x 150' open-air pavilion including site fill, concrete foundation, pre-engineered structure with metal roof panels, and a basketball court.
