Approval of a resolution authorizing the Hidalgo County Urban County Program to apply for a Self Help Center Application in the amount not to exceed $1,200,000.00 using the services of Proyecto Azteca and authorizing the County Judge to act as the County's Executive Officer and Authorized Representative in all matters pertaining to the County's participation in the Texas Community Development Program, TDHCA-OCI 2008 (2007 allocation) Self Help Center Program Fund Application.

The Urban County Program will be submitting an application for the funding of the Colonia Self Help Center Program.  If approved, this application will fund housing activities in five colonias in areas of Precinct #2, Precinct #3, and Precinct #4.  Other activities will also take place such as public services, home repair counseling, construction classes, small repairs program, and technology access.  The colonias are Muniz Subdivision, LJ#1 Subdivision, Sanchez Ranch Subdivision, South Tower Estates, and Linda Vista Subdivision.  In response to a request for proposals from non-profit organizations, one service provider submitted a proposal for the implementation of activities in those areas.  We are recommending Proyecto Azteca as the service provider to be awarded the contract with the funds provided.  (See copy of resolution and Self Help proposal and budget attached).
