Urban County Program on behalf of Precinct No. 1 is requesting consideration and action to award and enter into a construction contract with Metro Electric, Inc. for a street improvement (solar lights) project located within Precinct 1 area. Total contract amount $81,084.00 utilizing Precinct No. 1 YR 24 (2011) street improvements (solar lights) funds.

BACKGROUND

Precinct No. 1 has requested and received bids for the street improvements (solar lights) project. Guzman & Muñoz Engineering and Surveying, Inc., prepared specification packages and bids were received and opened at the Hidalgo County – Purchasing Department on September 26, 2012. Four (4) contractors submitted bids and three (3) out of the four (4) qualified as the lowest bidders. After review the project engineer recommended Metro Electric, Inc. as the lowest and qualified bidder. (See attached recommendation letter from Guzman & Muñoz Engineering and Surveying, Inc. and copy of bid tabulations.)
