Requesting approval to allow Hidalgo County Health & Human Services Dept. staff in partnership with Hidalgo County Emergency Management staff to host and provide training for local Amateur Radio Operators. The training will be held on October 10, 2015 at the Hidalgo County EOC and utilize the EOC's radio equipment and equipment brought by local Amateur Radio Operators.
BACKGROUND
Purpose: The Hidalgo County EOC, Texas Department of Emergency Management, Red Cross and National Weather Service along with similar services agencies & support programs rely on local volunteer Amateur Radio Operators to assist with communications during large scale events.
