Discussion, consideration, and possible action regarding approval to apply for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, FEMA-DR-4485 (COVID-19 Pandemic), with authority for County Judge to sign all required documentation. 

Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds have become available to apply for funds for the construction of a Hurricane Safe Room.  This proposed safe room would be utilized as a multipurpose center serving as a training facility for fire, police, and emergency medical personnel as well as a safe room before and during an impending storm.  The multipurpose center would meet all FEMA Safe Room Design requirements and guidelines designed to achieve “near-absolute protection” as described in the current editions of FEMA P-320, Taking Shelter From the Storm: Building a Safe Room For Your Home or Small Business (2014), and FEMA P-361, Safe Rooms for Tornadoes and Hurricanes: Guidance for Community and Residential Safe Rooms (2015).
