1. Authorization and approval to apply for the FY 2024 Border Prosecution Unit (BPU) grant for the period of September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2025 with the Office of the Governor-Homeland Security Grants Division (OOG-HSGD) through e-grants.
2. Approval of resolution for the FY 2024 BPU grant to designate Judge Richard Cortez as the grantee's authorized official with authority for Commissioners Court, Governing Body, to execute resolution.
3. Approval for County Judge, as authorized official, to e-sign application and all related documents.

BACKGROUND
This grant funds 100% of the salaries, fringes and expenses for 4 prosecutors, 1 investigator and 1 legal assistant. One of the prosecutors is titled as the Regional Counsel; a second prosecutor is also a Regional Counsel as well as the Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Counsel for BPU. The Regional Counsels have the responsibility of assisting law enforcement and local prosecutor's office throughout Texas.
The prosecutor and investigator assists local Hidalgo County law enforcements agencies with criminal cases.
The Legal Assistant supports the prosecutors and investigators.
