Constable Pct.3 - FY 2023 Operation Slowdown Grant (1284):
1. Authorization and approval to ratify application for the FY 2023 STEP -Operation Slowdown Grant with the Texas Department of Transportation through TXDOT E-grants for the period of July 14, 2023 - July 30, 2023.
2. Approval of resolution for the FY 2023-STEP Operation Slowdown to designate Judge Richard Cortez, as grantee's authorized official with authority for County Judge to execute resolution. 
3. Approval for County Judge, as authorized official, to e-sign application and all related documents. 

BACKGROUND

The purpose of the Operation Slowdown grant is to increase effective enforcement and adjudication of traffic safety laws and to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes as well as to enhance public information and education efforts during the Enforcement period. The grant will enhance the visibility deterrence patrol due to significant increase in speed related (fatality/serious bodily injury) crashes within Pct.3 jurisdiction.
Total amount of grant funds request is $4,000.00. Grant requires an "in-kind" match of 1,000.00 (20%) which will be covered through social media outreach in accordance with the TXDOT Social Media Value Index Guidelines.
Grant application deadline is Friday, March 31, 2023.  FY 2023 grant period is 7-14-2023 to 7-30-2023 (11 net working days)

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

CONST PCT3 STEP SD - No fiscal impact at this time; submission of application only. A new grant fiscal year will be created by the Auditor's Office once grant award is accepted by CC, COR by Co Auditor, & appropriation of funds. Grant funds requested is $4,000.00. Grant requires an "in-kind" match of 20% ($1000.00) to be covered through social media outreach in accordance with the TXDOT Social Media Value Index Guidelines. Grant only covers overtime expenses, fringes to be reclassified to the Const Pct. 3 G/F budget. This is the second year application.
