In compliance with 24 CFR 576.404(b)(3), the County of Hidalgo Urban County Program (UCP) hereby discloses that Christian’s Manor, a nonprofit organization founded by Hidalgo County Precinct 2 Commissioner Eduardo “Eddie” Cantu, has submitted a request for Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding.
BACKGROUND
In accordance with 24 CFR 576.404(b)(3)(i)(A), the Hidalgo County Urban County Program (UCP) hereby publicly discloses a potential conflict of interest concerning Hidalgo County Precinct 2 Commissioner Eduardo “Eddie” Cantu. Commissioner Cantu is the founder and former board member of Christian’s Manor, a nonprofit organization proposed to receive Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding.
Pursuant to 24 CFR 576.404(b)(3)(i)(B), and in compliance with applicable state and local laws, the UCP sought and obtained a legal opinion affirming that the proposed ESG funding for Christian’s Manor does not constitute a violation of Texas state or local regulations.
Prior to proceeding with any funding decisions or seeking an exception from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the UCP is fulfilling the requirement to publicly disclose this relationship.
This disclosure is made to ensure full transparency and compliance with federal conflict of interest provisions under 24 CFR Part 576.
