Requesting approval to ratify a letter of intent to enter into a contract with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to inspect Mobile Food Vendors (MFVs) as per House Bill 2844 which requires all MFVs, with authority for Health & Human Services Department Director, to sign the document.
BACKGROUND
HB 2844 Mobile Food Vendors was signed by Governor Abbott on June 20, 2025. Rules are required to be effective May 1, 2026. HB 2844 requires all MFVs to obtain an annual license from DSHS for statewide operation. DSHS wishes to contract wth local jurisdictions for inspections.
