Urban County Program for Precinct No. 2 is requesting consideration and action to award and enter into Construction Contract with Garcia & Martinez Paving, Inc. (lowest bidder meeting all specifications and/or requirements) for the HUD CDBG-R flood drainage improvements to South Tower Estates located in Precinct 2 in the amount of $378,861.15 utilizing Year 22 (2009) flood drainage improvement funds.  The project consists of flood drainage improvements to the subdivision.

BACKGROUND

Precinct No. 2 has requested and received bids for the flood drainage improvements. R. Gutierrez Engineering Corporation prepared specification packages and bids were received and opened at the Hidalgo County - Purchasing Department on December 23, 2009.  After review the project engineer recommended Garcia & Martinez Paving, Inc., as the lowest of six (6) bidders.  (See attached recommendation letter from the R. Gutierrez Engineering Corporation and copy of bid tabulations.)
