Authorization and Approval to apply for the FY2012 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) with the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice.
BACKGROUND
The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) administers the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) in conjunction with the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Citizenship and Immigration Services, Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Federal payments are made to states and localities that incurred costs for incarcerating known (DHS verified) undocumented criminal aliens.
Awarded monies are to be used for correctional purposes only.
Applications are to be submitted online via the OJP Grants Management System (GMS). Deadline for submitting the applications is July 06, 2012 (6:00 P.M., EDT).
