Requesting approval to enter into contract with Proyecto Azteca for the purpose of implementing the 2012-2016 Hidalgo County Urban County Program (UCP) Colonia Self-Help Center Project.

BACKGROUND

The Urban County Program requested proposals to enter into a “Service Provider” contract with a non-profit organization that has demonstrated ability to carry out colonia self help activities, on October 3, 2012. A committee evaluated the proposals received. Among the criteria used in the evaluation process was type of project, project location(s), previous funding and experience. The UCP requests approval to appoint Proyecto Azteca as the “Service Provider” in order to award the 2012-2016 Hidalgo County Urban County Program (UCP) Colonia Self-Help Center Project contract in the amount of $900,000 to this non-profit organization. Proyecto Azteca shall perform colonia self help activities such as new construction, small home repairs, housing rehabilitation/reconstruction, tool lending library and related activities. These activities will be undertaken within five (5) target colonias: El Charro Subdivision #2 in Precinct 2, Colonia Lucero del Norte in Precinct 1, Country View Estates in Precinct 2, Indian Hills Subdivision I in Precinct 1 and Indian Hills Subdivision II in Precinct 1.
