Approval of Proclamation in support of Region One ESC My Brother's Keeper - Building Ladders of Opportunity Initiative.

In alignment with President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative, Region One Education Service Center in conjunction with the Texas Valley Communities Foundation (TVCOF), and Pharr-San Juan- Alamo (PSJA) Independent School District and the Office of Congressman Rubén Hinojosa, propose to utilize best practices accumulated over the past fourteen years along with current research, to target and address the needs of Latino and African American male youth in the Rio Grande Valley of Deep South Texas. Utilizing lessons learned through three successful Region One GEAR UP grants, research conducted through the Gates Foundation via the Texas Valley Communities Foundation, and successful interventions developed through nationally recognized efforts at PSJA ISD, the partnership proposes to develop and implement a model for Latino and African American male youth by dividing interventions into two critical sections: Focus Area Recommendations & Cross-Cutting Recommendations and Areas of Opportunity
