HIDALGO COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES:

A.   Presentation for consideration, discussion and Action (if applicable) to award the bid(s) received with approval of contract (subject to legal review)  for "Funeral & Burial Services for Paupers" (Bid No. 2006-264-09-20-otm) for:  
      1) Option A:  Funeral Services) to sole bidder meeting all specifications and requirements; and,
      2) Option B:  Burial Services - no bid award possible inasmuch as no bids received for this option; 

B.  Discussion, consideration and applicable action on correspondence received from current vendor for "Funeral   Services" -Memorial Funeral Home - of notice received from Val Verde Memorial Gardens (Crematorium) regarding the cremation of  unidentified pauper remains.

C.  Discussion, consideration with request to seek Commissioners Court's directive & authority including, but not limited to the following options:
      1)  Request  an Attorney General's Opinion (AG) for clarification on apparent conflict between  Health and Safety Code Chapter & Section 716.101 and AG's Opinion No. GA-0301  and (with further clarification as to identified or unidentified pauper remains-Health & Safety Code-Section 694.002(a)(b);

      2)   Authority to  re-advertise for "Burial Services" for unidentified remains; 

      3)  Other options available to Hidalgo County
