The Urban County Program is requesting the award of bids and approval of contracts for the demolition and reconstruction of one (1) unit in the Countywide area in the amount of $54,980.00 to R & R General Contractors, demolition and reconstruction of one (1) unit in the Countywide area in the amount of $59,800.00 to Rolando's General Contractors the demolition and reconstruction of one (1) unit in the Countywide area in the amount of $47,000.00 to De Leon Construction, the demolition and reconstruction of one (1) unit in the County wide area in the amount of $46,500.00 to GMH Construction, and one (1) unit in the City of San Juan in the amount of $58,000.00 to Benchmark Construction.

BACKGROUND

These families were approved to receive assistance under the HOME-Homeowner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program by the County Commissioners' Court on October 5, 2004, November 13, and December 11, 18, 2007.  Bids were received and opened at the Hidalgo County Purchasing Department on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 for the reconstruction including demolition of four (4) existing structures in the Countywide area and one (1) in the City of San Juan. A review and tabulation of bids revealed that the following contractors were the lowest bidders for the Countywide projects in the amount of $54,980.00 to R & R General Contractors, $59,800.00 to Rolando's General Construction, $47,000.00 to De Leon Construction, $ 46,500 to GMH Construction and $58,000.00 to Benchmark Construction for the City of San Juan.  (See Attachments)
