Presentation for discussion, consideration and action in connection with recent water line rupture (3/14 & 15/08) damages sustained to first and second floors of the Courthouse including, but not limited to, the following:

A.   Dry-outs, remediation/abatement of asbestos containing materials, and build back of the 93rd., 275th., 370th. State District Courtrooms and surrounding areas resulting from water line rupture of 3/14&15/08;

B.    Emergency dry-out, remediation/abatement of asbestos containing materials and build back of County Court at Law #5 (housed on the second floor in the area, aka, the old 206th and adjacent to the damaged 93rd. District Courtroom) after the discovery of water damage directly attributable to original water line rupture event of 3/14&15/08;

C.   Proposals received (as authorized by CC on 4-22-08) from Clean Air Solutions for the dry-out, remediation/abatement and build back of CCL#5 (subject to concurrence and approval from our insurance carrier) with approval, if applicable;

D.   Other Courthouse areas/departments/courts/elected offices  affected by incidents or events resulting in damage requiring emergency or immediate attention and/or repairs;
       1)   District Clerk's office-water drain cracked line leak (from second floor bathroom drain) onto ceiling tiles 4-24/25-08 (unrelated to events of 3/14&15/08) and requiring immediate repairs;
        2)   Others

E.     Recap of significant current and/or recent repairs/renovations to the Hidalgo County Courthouse.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

All related dry outs, abatement and build back to the most current event affecting the 93rd, 275th, 370th, CCL#5 and surrounding hall and areas would be subject to the $25,000.00 deductible and thereafter re-imbursement through insurance carrier.

Please refer to attached expense report for all courts for available funding in object 431, Building R&M Services, as of 4/25/2008.
