Requesting approval to pay membership dues to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Leticia Chavez, First Assistant Auditor for the Hidalgo County Auditor's Office, in the total amount of $210.00 (Requisition #473604) with the authority for the County Treasurer to issue a check after review, audit, and processing procedures are completed by the County Auditor.

BACKGROUND

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiner's purpose is to reduce the incidence of fraud and white-collar crime and to assist the membership in fraud detection and deterrence (1) by providing bona fide qualifications for Certified Fraud Examiners through the administration of the CFE Examination; (2) by setting high standards for admission, including demonstrated competence through mandatory continuing professional education; (3) requiring certified Fraud Examiners to adhere to a strict code of professional conduct and ethics;  (4) by serving the international representative for certified fraud examiners to business, government, and academic institutions; and, (5) by providing leadership to inspire public confidence in the integrity, objectivity, and professionalism of Certified Fraud Examiners.
