Requesting approval for application of FY2008 Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) Grant.

The CEDAP will provide an integral component to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office Criminal Intelligence Unit that will allow the Sheriff's Office the capability to enhance surveillance and security video. Currently the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office does not have this technology available which effects our ability to identify elements in videos that are collected as evidence. The grant will provide a video forensics system called Detective by Ocean Systems. There is no matching for this grant as it is a direct assistance program and the grant is providing equipment only. The sustainability for the equipment is approximately $1300.00 after the first year for the recurring maintenance agreement. These funds are already allocated in our budget.
