The Urban County Program is requesting the award of bids and approval of contracts for the demolition and reconstruction of the following:

1.  (1) unit in the Countywide area in the amount of $53,000.00 to Rolando's General Construction
2.  (1) unit in the City of Donna in the amount of $38,440.00 to J.D. Villarreal
3.  (1) unit in the City of Weslaco in the amount of $39,555.00 to Benchmark Construction
4.  (1) unit in the City of Weslaco in the amount of $37,200.00, one (1) unit in the City of Hidalgo in the amount of $37,200.00, and one (1) unit in the Countywide area in the amount of $37,800.00 to GMH Construction.

BACKGROUND

These families were approved to receive assistance under the HOME-Homeowner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program by the County Commissioners' Court on March 11 & 25, 2008 and May 6, 2008.  Bids were received and opened at the Hidalgo County Purchasing Department on Wednesday, June 10, 2008 for the reconstruction including demolition of two (2) existing structures in the Countywide area, two (2) in the City of Weslaco, one (1) in the City of Donna and one (1) in the City of Hidalgo.  A review and tabulation of bids revealed that the following contractors were the lowest bidders, at $53,000.00 to Rolando's General Construction, $38,440.00 to J.D. Villarreal, $112,200.00 to GMH Construction and 39,555.00 to Benchmark Construction.
