FISCAL IMPACT
Financial terms of the contract include a base salary of $225,000 annually and deferred compensation of 5.0%. The financial terms take into consideration an analysis of comparable benchmark data for Presiding Municipal Judge compensation.
BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS ACTIONS
City Council has successfully concluded an extensive search and candidate assessment process for a new Presiding Municipal Judge. The assessment process included an in-depth preliminary screening process with the City's Judicial Advisory Committee (JAC). The JAC provided council with a slate of recommended finalists. Along with interviews with City Council, the finalists were interviewed by internal stakeholders.
STAFF ANALYSIS
Approval of this employment agreement will establish the terms and conditions of employment. In accordance with City Charter, this agreement is effective October 23, 2023, through October 23, 2025. City Charter establishes that a Presiding Judge's contract term will not exceed 2 years.
