SUMMARY
City Council to select a Vice-Mayor pursuant to the City Charter to serve from June 18, 2021 through December 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT
The salaries of Mayor, Vice-Mayor and Council are included in the adopted budget.
BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS ACTIONS
City Charter Article II, Section 10, requires that the Council designate one of its members as Vice-Mayor. The current Vice-Mayor was appointed on June 17, 2019 to a two-year term.
Pursuant to previous Council discussion, the next Vice-Mayor is suggested to be appointed to serve 18 months to re-establish the Vice-Mayor rotation to match the new Council election cycle.

STAFF ANALYSIS
The City Charter requires the designation of one of its members to serve as Vice-Mayor. The Vice-Mayor shall perform the duties of the Mayor during the absence or temporary disability of the Mayor.
City elections were moved to the fall of even years by a vote of the public in 2019. This required terms to be extended and in order to align the Vice-Mayor term to begin with the induction of the newly elected Council, the selected Vice-Mayor will have a slightly shorter term than usual.
