Call of elections for August 2, 2022 and November 8, 2022.

ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 2202-2207 PROVIDING NOTICE OF A PRIMARY ELECTION ON AUGUST 2, 2022 AND A GENERAL ELECTION NOVEMBER 8, 2022, IF NECESSARY; DESIGNATING THE PLACE AND BEGINNING DATE TO DISTRIBUTE CANDIDATE PACKETS; DESIGNATING THE LAST DATE FOR CANDIDATES TO FILE NOMINATING PAPERS; DESIGNATING THE DATES THAT VOTER REGISTRATION CLOSES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HER DESIGNEE, TO ENTER INTO ALL AGREEMENTS TO EFFECTUATE ELECTION SERVICES; AND ORDERING THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH THIS CALL OF ELECTION.  (Darcie McCracken, City Clerk)

Election costs will be budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2022-23 budget for the City Clerk's Office.

In 2019, voters approved moving the regular candidate elections for the city of Goodyear to the fall of even years to coincide with the state's elections.  Terms for all current members of Council were extended with those with expiring terms in 2021 being extended to December 31, 2022, and those with terms ending in 2023 being extended to December 31, 2024. 

Although state statutes no longer require a call of election, since this is the first regular candidate election with the new dates, the City Clerk's office will take the approved information in the resolution to provide notification to the public.  Additional opportunities to share the information will take place with publishing of the resolution, updated city's election website and social media posts, especially, as we get closer to the election.
