The city received an Opioid Remediation Grant application from the Travis James Gustavson Foundation requesting $23,200 in support of poster boards that provide awareness, education, and serve as a resource for Opioid use and addiction. The focus is to help spread the awareness of illicit substances in the community, in addition to starting conversations in hopes of curbing the stigma, and helping people understand that substance-use disorder is a disease. Some resources will also be included.

The cost of the two poster boards is $23,200 and includes the cost of them being placed over a 12-month period. One of the poster boards will be located on Madison Avenue with a total cost of $13,200 ($1,100/mos., plus $200 for production). The other poster board will be located on Victory Drive at a total cost of $9,600 ($800/mos., plus $200 for production). Once the poster boards are drafted, copies will be sent to the panel for approval. Per the grant guidelines, the request falls under G. relating to preventing misuse of opioids, which supports efforts to discourage or prevent misuse of opioids through evidence-based or evidence-informed programs or strategies.

A grant review panel consisting of three staff members reviewed the application and recommended approval of the grant allocation.
