Resolution directing parking control establishing angled parking on the south side of East Spring Street from the alley to North Second Street.

A petition was submitted by Immanuel Lutheran Church to modify the parking on the south side of Spring Street between North Second Street and the alley east of North Second Street. Immanuel Lutheran Church is the property owner for this section of the block. The request is to install angle parking instead of parallel parking. Reviewing the area, it appears that the roadway was constructed to accommodate angle parking in this area. The road width has been expanded along the church building to a nominal width of 42 feet. The required width is 42 feet for 45-degree angle parking, two lanes of travel and parallel parking. The change in parking would increase the number of parking stalls available. The parking request is for open parking. This would help address the need for parking in the neighborhood, which experiences a high parking demand.

The request was reviewed by the Site Plan and Traffic Advisory Review Committee on September 10 and approval was recommended.
