Resolution authorizing submission for 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), and motion approving the Joint Agreement between the City of Mankato and Blue Earth County to share JAG Program Award.
Recommendation/Action(s):
Adoption of the attached resolution, and approval of motion.
Summary:
The City of Mankato will be applying for the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) and is eligible to receive $12,278.00, if awarded. The deadline to submit the grant application is October 10, 2024.
The grant requires that the city share the award with Blue Earth County. An agreement has been reached with the county that the city will be the fiscal agency for the grant. The joint agreement outlines that the city will receive $7,366.80 (60%) of the funds and the county will receive $4,911.20 (40%). The city portion is more for providing fiscal and reporting oversight for the grant.
Both the Mankato Department of Public Safety and the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office will use the funds for a JAG approved project aimed at improving operations and/or efficiency.
