Resolution supporting State Bonding request for Air Traffic Control Tower Construction.
Recommendation/Action(s):
Adoption of the attached resolution.
Summary:
To this date, the City of Mankato has worked on a multiple-step process in acquiring an Air Traffic Control Tower at the Mankato Regional Airport. As part of the current design step, we have received a 10% design cost estimate of $20,802,000. Due to the anticipated costs of this project, city staff have reviewed different funding options, including a State Bonding request for part of the project.
The State of Minnesota Office of Management and Budget (OMB) requests that all capital budget projects for the coming legislative session be submitted prior to the bonding year.
The City of Mankato recently submitted a request for State Bonding dollars to help in funding the construction of the Air Traffic Control Tower. As part of the request, formal Council support for the project is recommended.
