Resolution supporting State Bonding request for the Southeast Water Quality.
Recommendation/Action(s):
Adoption of the attached resolution.
Summary:
The Southeast Water Quality project seeks to implement drainage management and associated water quality enhancements that are focused on the Southeast Drainage District and associated stream courses, including the main stem of the Minnesota River. Phase 1 has been completed and consisted of a comprehensive watershed study. Several projects have been identified from the study with the next step being land acquisition.
Due to the anticipated costs of this project, which are currently estimated at $13,500,000, city staff have reviewed different funding options, including a State Bonding request for part of the project.
The State of Minnesota Office of Management and Budget (OMB) requests that all capital budget projects for the coming legislative session be submitted prior to the bonding year. As part of the request, formal Council support for the project is recommended.
