ITEM:
Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding authorization to enter into an agreement with the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). (Victor Figueroa, Acting Chief of Police)
SUMMARY:
The San Luis Police Department is requesting approval to go into agreement with DEA to have an officer assigned to their task force. By having a San Luis Police officer at DEA’s task force, our efforts to combat the illegal flow of narcotics will improve. At the same time, the investigative possibilities will be enhanced. As our community begins to grow, the risk of drug trafficking increases as well. By working closely with DEA and our other partner agencies; we can begin to ensure that SLPD will work tirelessly in dismantling and disrupting any and all type of drug trafficking organizations that will try to operate within our community.
RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:
I MOVE TO APPROVE THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION AND THE CITY OF SAN LUIS POLICE DEPARTMENT AS PRESENTED BY STAFF.
