Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding approval of a contract for the ComicCon event in San Luis, Arizona for Fiscal Year 2017-2018. (Tadeo A. De La Hoya, City Manager)
SUMMARY:
↵Arizona Western College Students and other volunteers through the Yuma County Arts and Cultural Group put on a successful Blazing Desert ComicCon in March of 2016 and March of 2017. We are expecting a successful Blazing Desert ComicCon in February or March of 2018. They will use the City Logo in their advertising for the event. The City Council has already budgeted funds in the amount of $2,000.00 for the event for the fiscal year 2017-2018 ending June 30, 2018. This item was in a previous work session. Since then the City Attorney met with the president of the non-profit group, Antonio Carrillo and worked out the liability provisions and made certain other provisions more specific as to what the obligations of the parties will be. However, the basic terms are the same since the work session. However, due to the changes, this item is not on the consent agenda.
RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:
I MOVE TO APPROVE THE CONTRACT FOR THE 2018 ANNUAL BLAZING DESERT ComicCon AS PRESENTED IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,000.00.
