Discussion and possible action on any and all matters regarding entering into a construction contract with Merrill Walker Builders, Inc. for the San Luis Senior Center Expansion Project No. IFB CDBG 105-20.  (Mary French-Jones, Grant Writer)

Staff is seeking approval to enter into a contractual agreement with Merrill Walker Builders, Inc. to complete the construction of the San Luis Senior Center Expansion Project No. IFB CDBG 105-20 ("Project") in the amount of Base Bid $516,063.00 (Base Bid $500,130.00 + Bid Alternate B $15,933.00).  Staff conducted an optional virtual pre-bid meeting on May 20, 2020, for interested bidders and the bid opening on Wednesday, June 3, 2020.  Staff received four (4) bids from regional general contractors see attached Bid Tabulation.

The contractor, Merrill Walker Builders, Inc. was selected competitively by sealed bids and was deemed the lowest bidder to be qualified and capable of performing the contract.

The work consists of, but not limited to, the construction of San Luis Senior Center Expansion Project IFB CDBG 105-20 located at 970 E. Cesar Chavez Boulevard, San Luis, AZ 85349.  The scope of work includes site preparation and construction of a 2,419 SF addition to the existing senior center facility.  The addition will house a multi-purpose area with an operable expandable partition to accommodate and segment various activities hosted at the senior center, as well as ADA-compliant restroom facilities, data and janitor storage space, and other work incidental to the project as specified in the Bid, Bidding Documents, Project Manual and Detail Plans.  The project is scheduled for completion within one hundred fifty (150) calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed.

Staff recommends the approval of a construction contract with Merrill Walker Builders, Inc., to complete the construction of the San Luis Senior Center Expansion Project N. IFB CDBG 105-20 in the amount of $516,063.00.
