Discussion and possible actions on any and all matters regarding the purchase of a new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) fill station. (Angel Ramirez, Fire Chief)
SUMMARY:
The current fill station (Mako Brand) that is currently in use was purchased in the early 2000s and was designed to fill SCBA bottles with a much lower PSI capability than we currently use. Our current bottles are rated at 4500(psi) 45 minutes and our previous bottles were rated at 2216(psi) 30 minutes. The Mako unit has sustained numerous repairs in the past year, much of the issues having to do with the overloading of the system to fill our current bottles. The San Luis Fire Department obtained a quote of $48,727.96 for a new fill station through LN Curtis who is a long-time vendor used by our organization.
We would also like to waive formal purchasing code procedures so that we can have LN Curtis as our vendor for the fill station. LN Curtis has always given us great customer service and always prioritizes our needs.

RECOMMENDATION / SUGGESTED MOTION:
I MOVE TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF A NEW SCBA FILL STATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $48,727.96 AND WAIVE FORMAL PURCHASING PROCEDURE AS ALLOWED UNDER CITY CODE SECTION 36.01(H).
